Who we are

Founded in 1897, we're one of the oldest Horticultural Societies in the UK. For over 50 years the Society has been associated with Great Dixter House and Gardens and we are very privileged to have Fergus Garrett, CEO and Head Gardener at Great Dixter, as our President. Fergus follows in the footsteps of Christopher Lloyd who was our President for many years.

Love plants? Love Northiam? Love gardening?

Join us on the Committee!

We are a friendly band of volunteers who run the Society's events, having fun and contributing to Village life through a variety of activities. You don't need special skills or to be a horticultural expert- just a willingness to help out and a love of plants and gardening. If you'd like to get involved, either by joining the Committee, supporting us in other ways or just to find out more, we'd love to hear from you. northiamhorticulturalsociety@gmail.com

Along with the Committee, the Society also benefits from the support of many others including the staff and students at Great Dixter, our Show judges, our Auditor Ann Antrobus and the many volunteers/helpers who assist with and contribute to our events. A big “thank you” to all of them and to Amy Cottingham for the design and development of this website.
